The US Open Juniors 2025 concluded with two rising stars claiming the spotlight. Bulgaria’s Ivan Ivanov and Belgium’s Jeline Vandromme delivered standout performances to win the boys’ and girls’ singles titles respectively at Flushing Meadows.
Ivan Ivanov Secures Back-to-Back Grand Slam Titles
After claiming the title at Wimbledon Juniors 2025, 16-year-old Ivan Ivanov continued his remarkable season by lifting the trophy in New York. Facing fellow Bulgarian and world No. 7 junior Alexander Vasilev in the final, Ivanov dominated the match in straight sets (7-5, 6-3), showing composure beyond his years.
Ivanov dropped only one set during the tournament — in the quarterfinals — and now solidifies his position as the junior world No. 1. He is already ranked inside the ATP Top 1000 and is widely seen as one of the brightest prospects in men’s tennis.
Jeline Vandromme Becomes Belgium’s First US Open Junior Winner Since 2003
On the girls’ side, Jeline Vandromme, aged 17 and ranked 495th in the WTA, claimed her first Grand Slam junior title. Known for defeating France’s Alizé Cornet earlier this year during the Billie Jean King Cup, Vandromme delivered a confident performance in the final, overcoming Sweden’s Lea Nilsson 7-6(2), 6-2 in 1 hour and 31 minutes.
She becomes the first Belgian player since Kirsten Flipkens in 2003 to win the junior title in New York. Vandromme’s victory is her 22nd consecutive match win in 2025 and her fourth title of the season, following triumphs in Roehampton and Monastir.
Doubles Final and Bright Futures Ahead
In addition to her singles title, Vandromme also reached the girls’ doubles final alongside Laima Vladson from Lithuania. However, the pair lost to Czech twins Jana and Alena Kovackova in straight sets (6-2, 6-2).
With this US Open Juniors 2025 victory, both Ivan Ivanov and Jeline Vandromme have confirmed their status as next-generation stars to watch closely in the coming years.
