Donte DiVincenzo has officially pulled out of EuroBasket 2025. The Minnesota Timberwolves guard explained that a recent injury forced him to skip the tournament. He had been preparing to make his debut for the Italian national team this summer.
🇮🇹 Injury Forces DiVincenzo to Step Back
The 28-year-old recently became eligible to play for Italy. He hoped to join the squad for EuroBasket, which takes place from August 27 to September 14. But in a statement, he said:
“Unfortunately, I won’t be able to join the team this summer due to a recent injury. My goal remains to represent Italy in the future, at the World Cup or the Olympics.”
According to The Athletic, this was a personal decision. The Minnesota Timberwolves did not pressure him to withdraw. Donte joined the team last year in a trade that sent Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks.
🏀 Focus on Recovery and NBA Preparation
DiVincenzo had a quiet season with Minnesota. He averaged 11.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists over 62 games. Missing the EuroBasket gives him time to recover fully and focus on preparing for the next NBA season.
The Timberwolves finished 6th in the Western Conference last season. They reached the conference finals but lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Donte hopes to contribute more this year and help his team go further in the playoffs.
