🚴 Jai Hindley Leads Red Bull-Bora Hansgrohe at Vuelta 2025 in Primoz Roglic’s Absence

Red Bull-Bora Hansgrohe has officially revealed its squad for the 2025 Vuelta a España, set to start on August 23 from Turin, Italy. With Primoz Roglic skipping the race, the German team will rely on Jai Hindley to lead its general classification ambitions.

Hindley Looks to Bounce Back After a Difficult Season

So far, Jai Hindley’s 2025 season hasn’t gone as planned. The Australian had a decent start with top-10 finishes at the Tour of the Alps and Tirreno-Adriatico but suffered a concussion during the Giro, which impacted his performance and preparation. Despite these challenges, the team has placed full confidence in the 2022 Giro d’Italia winner to guide them through the Spanish Grand Tour.

Primoz Roglic, a four-time Vuelta champion (2019–2021, 2024), had already announced his intention to focus on the Giro and Tour de France this year, leaving Hindley with a prime opportunity to lead the team.

Rising Talent and Experienced Climbers to Support the Cause

Supporting Hindley in the mountains will be Giulio Pellizzari, the 21-year-old Italian climber who impressed with a 6th-place finish at the Giro earlier this year. Pellizzari will act as both a key domestique and a potential stage hunter.

The rest of the squad includes strong climbers and versatile riders:

  • Finn Fisher-Black
  • Giovanni Aleotti
  • Matteo Sobrero
  • Nico Denz (winner of stage 18 at the 2025 Giro)
  • Jonas Koch
  • Tim van Dijke

Team Strategy: Stage Wins and GC Ambitions

“We’ll be competitive. Our plan is to be aggressive, support Jai, and also go after stage wins,” said Patxi Vila, the team’s sports director.

Red Bull-Bora Hansgrohe enters the 2025 Vuelta a España as a well-balanced unit aiming to challenge for the podium and pick up multiple stage victories, even without their star rider Roglic.
